Ah, the robot marathon, filled with passion and determination. Only the Japanese would summon up such an event and why not, Osaka and Japan in general is often hailed as a robotics pioneer, and it is no wonder as to why. These robots, whose mechanics are mainly used for getting back up when they fall and maintaining their jogging movements can also wave and celebrate at the end of their lap. Sure some of them don’t get back up, some of them may not even start, but all discrepancies aside not only is this light hearted and humorous but it is a technological moment to be proud of, and once they start matching humans maybe our metal cousins will be able to join us on the tracks.
So it may have taken four days and the robots may have appeared to be taking casual walks if moving at all, but come on, when that one robot goes the wrong way? That’s adorable, and that’s just what the Japanese want in their robotics.
